Chaos in Boxes:
Twisted Adventures
in Music Theory (2008)
by Sean Alexander Luciw
In Chaos in Boxes, authour Sean Luciw crams the square peg of music theory into the round holes of Egyptian folklore, astronomy, numerology, babooshkas, poetry, diarrhea, and the long-lost Solfeggio matrix. Bad puns and even a good old-fashioned f-word or two abound.
Parallels abound in our universe. Chaos in Boxes is a collection of experiments, theories and observations regarding music theory-based ideas and their connections to other parts of the world. Astronomy, astrology, geometry, arithmetic, science, art and poetry mix with scales, modes, chords, fretboard diagrams and more, in a down-to-earth, fun style.
Just $19.95 for a 190 page handmade book? Yup.

I'AM BORED part 1:
Boys are Retards (2008)
Words by Kevin Thurston
Drawings by Lauren Bender
When Kevin approached me during his first photoshoot for Produce Press with a manuscript of poems, needless to say, I was a little worried. When he said Lauren Bender was planning to do the illustrations, I decided to buy the book on spec. (It was only much later, during production that I actually read the poems.)
Am I ever glad I did. This book brings a whole new meaning to 'I'AM BORED' (which is scrawled on the cover of this beautifully made small book (48 pages) with cover on Orchid coloured paper, perfectbounded around an interior printed on 100% recycled paper.)
The poems seem to relate to Kevin's girlhood days in a way I don't quite understand, but like, and Lauren's illustrations bring a whole new meaning to the word 'butch' in single quotes.
See their first big photoshoots, or just go ahead and buy the book below. You won't be sorry. Only $5.

Return to the Valley of the Chrome Plated Megaphones (2008)
by Daniel f Bradley
So crisp in their dirty concreteness - 50 pages of new work from accomplished poet and collagist Daniel f Bradley - somewhere between demonic and sensual - something like a particularly inky printhouse incindiary device gone just right - the rolling streets of Toronto and ragged magazine cuttings paved and dug-out again still wet - copied, recopied, uncopied - you really could lap at these with your tongue and get carbon on your lips.
Perfectbound by hand in a staunchly red paper; ripe for plucking. Just $5.

les Scribblistes (2008)
by gustave morin
A lavishly produced poem by gustave morin, hand-made in co-operation with stained paper archive.
gustave's first seperately published non-concrete 'word' poem. A collector's item that features a full-color cover printed on textured 'bisque' paper. Staple-bound, and including endpapers salvaged from a defunct book depository in Detroit.
Something to hold and hold on to. A steal at $3.

Atone
Neither Overflowing Clause
(2005)
by AEM and Rob Read
Conjoined novellas in the shape of a guillotine? Yes - somewhere
between an existentialist play, a sci-fi time-machine story, an
elizabethan masque, a blood-drenched horror thriller, a dadaist
nonsense novel, a commentary on current events, a psychological
doctor/patient story. Just be shocked.
Yes - just $25 for this handmade, angle-cut book, with screen-printed cover, and gore splashes! Very few remaining!

Solid
as Echo (2001)
by AEM
'... solid as echo may well be more sophisticated
than the mindless software pumping out all the "serious"
fiction circulating in Canada today. isn't it nice to realize that
aem has been cured of the cranial anal inversion and anal opticitus
inflicting the world of contemporary letters? read this book NOW

Open
Letter Closed Book (2004)
by AEM and Rob Read
The first Produce [Section] book, now out of print, featured a literary
dialogue concerned with the literary ways of today. This book, although
it was the first published collaboration between Read and AEM, was
in fact written concurrently to Atone Neither Overflowing Clause
and the forthcoming second in their 'creative' collaborations -
to be distinct from this 'non-fiction' entity intended for specialists.
It's a meditation on editing and other concerns; counterphonic polemics;
sumptuous word play; if you can find it in a library - read it.
